The Zoroastrian Shrine

A contemplative and medatative space located within the Vedanta Retreat Ashram in Scappoose, Oregon.

The Zoroastrian Shrine at Vedanta Retreat is a handcrafted meditation and symbolic architectural space inspired by ancient Zoroastrian principles, sacred geometry, light, proportion, and craftsmanship. Built within the natural landscape of the retreat, the shrine was designed as both a contemplative structure and a living work of symbolic art.

The design integrates geometry, directional alignment, light, mathematical proportion, and traditional symbolic concepts associated with Asha — the Zoroastrian principle of truth, harmony, and cosmic order. Every aspect of the structure, from the cedar framework to the pyramid skylight and seven-sided altar, was intentionally created to reflect relationships between nature, consciousness, balance, and human creativity.

This website serves as an evolving archive documenting the shrine’s creation, symbolism, research, photography, and associated white papers. The goal is not to present fixed doctrine, but to encourage reflection, curiosity, and deeper exploration into the relationship between architecture, symbolism, consciousness, and the enduring search for meaning.
